Skills - Education and Development Committee

The work of the Committee is straightforward - to help to improve the knowledge and understanding of Freemasonry by the Brethren of the Province and to provide such training and support as will assist in that process. And, following requests from the PGM and/or the Craft or Royal Arch Executives, to bring together other Provincial Committees and Officers to develop and implement strategy that will ensure the future success of Freemasonry in the Province.

The Chairman works closely with the Chairman of the Communications Committee, the Provincial Mentor and the Provincial Orator who sit, along with other senior Brethren, on the main Committee of the Provincial Education and Development Committee.

The main Education and Development Committee has  a number of subcommittees which work on specific objectives. For example the Materials Subcommittee is made up of knowlegeable Brethren who prepare papers, presentations and short talks, which are available for Brethren to read, or for the benefit of the Province's Mentoring Programme. This programme was initially developed and continues to evolve, with continuing work from the Education and Development Committee, who are supporting the Provincial Mentor, WBro Tony Costello, in implementing the Mentoring Programme across the Province.

Members of the Education and Development Committee, in conjunction with the DCs Craft and Royal Arch Teams, have just completed a successful series of Workshops for Lodge and Chapter DCs throughout the Province. Phase Two of the programme will be starting in the autumn. It is anticipated that similar programmes will be launched in the near future for Lodge Secretaries and Chapter Scribes E and then Lodge and Chapter Treasurers.
