Provincial Grand Lodge of East Lancashire

RULE 158

Rule 158 Enquiries

If a Candidate for Initiation into your Lodge has neither a permanent residence nor a regular place of business or employment within this Province he must state in writing his reasons for not seeking admission into a Lodge in his own locality.

In all such cases you must, upon receipt of a proposal form for initiation, contact the Provincial Secretariat, who will make enquiries as to the candidate's suitability, from the Province in which he has his place of residence.

A candidate, to whom this Rule applies, must not be proposed in open Lodge until the aforementioned enquiries have been completed and the Lodge Secretary has received confirmation from the Provincial Office.

On the Summons of the meeting at which the ballot is to be taken, after the candidates details, please add ‘Rule 158 complied with'.

If you are in any way unsure as to whether a candidate comes under the provision of this Rule please click here to check postcodes that lie within the Province of East Lancashire.
