Several of the users of Sandon House gather with visitors from Cromwell with Papyrean Lodge to admire the new floor.

Cromwell with Papyrean Lodge 5771 recently applied to the ELMC Grant Making Committee for a grant on behalf of Sandon House Community Centre in Heywood.
Based in the centre of Heywood, Sandon House caters for older people and people in need. Due to the high demands of the service they have expanded and now work in partnership with ‘the Heywood homeless project’ providing warm meals, they provide a base to help reform offenders, and ensure placements and availability for volunteers of all ages to help them gain skills and keep them in the employability market.
During the last 12 months they have had a continuous rise in people using their service, the outcomes have been demonstrated by verbal feedback that the friendliness and companionship to the older people has improved their lives, volunteers have gained skills to help them with future employment and fundraising events have become an enjoyable and affordable activity for intergenerational residents of Heywood
The centre is run by volunteers who have worked hard to raise funds for the centre, but it needed a new floor. No support was available from the local council so application was made to the ELMC, resulting in a grant of £3,200 being given.

Heather Stott of Sandon House receives the ELMC Cheque from WBro Steve Holland, Bury District Charity Steward, with WBro Rob Ashton, WM, and WBro Jesse Riley, Charity Steward, Cromwell with Papyrean Lodge
