Area Festival Teams

The Area Festival Managers (AFMs)

An Area Festival Manager and District Festival Representatives has been appointed  for all Areas of the Province, apart from Manchester and Salford, where the position is a dual role. The Area Festival Manager is responsible to the APGM for that Area and manages all aspects of the RMBI 2015 Festival Appeal in that Area. Each AFM also takes direction from the Chairman of the Appeal Committee, WBro David Thompson, who has overall responsibility for the organisation of the whole of the Festival.

At a District level the Area Festival Manager also works closely with the District Chairman, who has responsibility to his APGM for everything which takes place in his District.

The AFM’s work includes:

Taking responsibility for the welfare, administration, motivation and overall well-being of the 2015 Festival within his Area / District. He will be part of and report to the Area Cabinet as well at the Chairman of the Appeal Committee. He will work closely with the District Festival Respresentatives (DFR) and his Area APGM. He organises, with the DFRs, training sessions for Lodge and Chapter Festival Representatives and also liaises with the Deputy Chairman of the Appeal Committee and the the DFRs when organising Roadshows and other major presentations. The AFM will also arrange other talks to Lodges, Chapters, Ladies Committtees and other relevant gatherings on the RMBI and the Festival.

The AFM will organise Area fundraising activities and social events for the benefit of the Festival and will publicise and promote Provincial fundraising activities, with the assistance of the District Communications Officer. He will also arrange and be responsible for the sale of ties, handkerchiefs, Festival Jewels and any other merchandise or memorabilia which may be provided for sale, and to keep accurate records of any sales made. He will also encourage the submission of success stories and records of activities from the Areas, through the District Communications Officer, for display on the Festival website and other pertinent places.

He will also be there to encourage and promote support for the Festival and maintain momentum where and when it is needed. He may visit your Lodges and Chapters to meet your Festival Representative and answer any questions you may have.

The District Festival Representatives (DFRs)

In most cases the District Festival Representative is also the District Charity Steward. Thus he is probably well known within your Area, familiar with Charity work and fundraising, and already a member of the District Team.
The DFR is a District Officer and as such he is primarily responsible to the APGM and District Chairman for the Area. The DFR serves as the communication link between the AFM and the Lodges and Chapters in his District. He will therefore work closely with the AFM.
His role, as you will see, is to gently create and maintain the momentum of the Festival. He may offer your Lodge or Chapter support when it is needed and he will answer any queries that may arise in your District.

The District Festival Representative’s job includes:

Being the the communications link between the AFM and the Lodge / ChapterFestival Representatives within his District. This is an excellent mechanism for reporting but also to share good practice. He will work closely with the AFM in all areas relating to the Festival within the District. He may arrange District Festival Roadshow Presentations and arrange District fund raising events and ideas throughout the term of the Festival. He will ensure that any large functions are sufficiently publicised throughout the District, through the District Communications Officer, to gain maximum support. He will also make sure that successful functions and presentations are published within any District newsletter, with photographs, and the news relayed to the Provincial web master, via the District Communications Officer, for consideration for inclusion on this web site, Please therefore keep him informed of all such items that are going on in your Lodge and Chapter.

The DFR will report at District meetings on the progress of the Festival within his District.

It goes without saying that both the AFMs and DFRs will respect the confidences of anyone who wishes to approach them. They are there to help you brethren and, with your support, endevour to make this Festival for the RMBI a great success.
