On Wednesday 24th May it was the final meeting of the Audenshaw District Fellowship before the summer break. The chairman, after welcoming all present, asked all present for a moment’s silence in memory of the recent incidents.

The group of around 35 then were taken on a sweet trip down memory lane, remembering all the different sweets and treats. We were educated from the sweet origins of the sticky treats and how the wealthy used their wealth to obtain the rarer sweets, going right back in history, when sweets were actually dried fruit

The talk was delivered by the assistant curator from Tatton Park, Janet Bradshaw, who was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable on the subject, that everyone needed a lie down after her sugar rush presentation.

The afternoon was rounded off by a raffle, followed by a drink and biscuits, with the chairman wishing everyone a good summer break.
