At the following Meeting the Resolution must be voted on, requiring a simple majority AND not less than five Members voting in favour.

[The following should be printed on the Summons of the next Regular Meeting]

PURSUANT TO NOTICE OF MOTION
To receive the Proposition given on [date] by [name and rank] that due to (here quote reasons ie. diminished membership, lack of prospects etc …) this Lodge has ceased to be viable.  Accordingly, the Meeting in … (here quote month/year) … be considered as the last and that the affairs of the Lodge be finally wound up and a that a recommendation is made to RW Provincial Grand Master [via the Provincial Grand Secretary], to return the Warrant to the MW TheGrand Master.

This Notice of Motion and the subsequent Resolution should normally be put forward by the Worshipful Master and seconded by the most senior, or one of the most senior Brethren.  Comparatively junior Brethren should not be given this responsibility.

Immediately after the Notice of Motion has been given, and before the subsequent Resolution, the Provincial Grand Secretary should be notified in writing of the Lodge’s intentions. He will then inform the RW Provincial Grand Master.

Note:
The timing of the final Meeting must be arranged carefully

a]    to avoid payment of an additional year’s Dues,
b]    to allow the Secretary & Treasurer to complete  the formalities and
c]    to give the Members time to join alternative Lodges (bearing in mind that only one attendance per Lodge is permitted for unattached Brethren).
