Amalgamation / Closure of Lodges

 

For the closing Lodge the following format must be used as a Notice of Motion.

[The following should be printed on the Summons]

Notice of Motion in the name of [name and rank] that:-

[a]        This Lodge, jointly with the [….....…] Lodge(or Lodges), petition the MW The Grand Master for a Certificate of             Amalgamation with a view to this Lodge being amalgamated into the [……...…..] Lodge and for the name of the             Amalgamated Lodge to be […......….].

[b]        Subject to the granting of a Certificate of Amalgamation by the MW The Grand Master and to the acceptance by             the [.......…..] Lodge of as many Members of this Lodge as wish to become joining Members.

  1. The assets and funds of this Lodge [with the exception of the items listed below] be transferred to the [….....….] Lodge.      
  2. List of assets and funds to be transferred [details of recipients].
  3. This Lodge submit its Warrant for formal cancellation so that it may be delivered to, and be held by, the Master for the time being of […..] Lodge.

Note:  Individual Lodges may be subject to restrictions on the disposal of the general or charity funds.  Such issues will need to be addressed at an early stage and embodied in the resolutions if necessary.

At the following Meeting the Resolutions must be voted on, requiring a simple majority AND not less than five Members voting in favour.

PURSUANT TO NOTICE OF MOTION    To receive the Propositions, which were given on [date] by [name and rank] that :-

[a]        This Lodge, jointly with the [……] Lodge (or Lodges), petition the MW The Grand Master for a Certificate of             Amalgamation with a view to this Lodge being amalgamated into the [………..] Lodge and for the name of the             Amalgamated Lodge to be […….].

[b]        Subject to the granting of a Certificate of Amalgamation by the MW the Grand Master and to the acceptance by the […..]    Lodge of as many Members of this Lodge as wish to become joining Members.
