Interface with the District Communications Officer
and local Charities and Communities
Interface with the District Communications Officer
- The Charity Steward plays a key role in helping the District Communications Officer raise the charitable profile of Freemasonry within the community. The Charity Steward should:
- Inform the District Communications Officer of forthcoming activities where press coverage, photographs, support from District/Provincial Officers or any other PR representative would be beneficial in raising the profile of Freemasonry. The District Communications Officer should be advised in ample time so as to be able to arrange appropriate representatives to be present.
- Provide material of charitable events and activities for publicity and publication purposes.
- Communicate forthcoming events for publication on the Web site or in any other appropriate media in order to attract support from both within and, where appropriate, outside the craft.
Interface with local charities and communities
In order to effectively support local charities and community projects, and to encourage them to promote the support they receive from Freemasonry, it is desirable that the Charity Steward seeks to build quality relationships with key organisations in their local community. This will enable the Lodge, Chapter, District and Province to:
- Understand the needs and requirements of these charities and any community projects and will provide them with the opportunity to make a more informed decision as to whether their cause merits our support.
- Identify opportunities for members to become actively involved in local community projects and support the care of the needy by the giving of their time.
- Build and maintain on-going relationships with these organisations, where the continuity of support is a critical requirement for them.
- Obtain the support of these organisations in communicating to others the positive characteristics of Freemasonry.
