Installation of the V. Ill. Bro. Royce Batters 33°
Inspector General for the District of South East Lancashire

Thursday 15th April 2010 was a special day for WBro Royce Batters, PJGD (Craft) as he succeeded the V. Ill. Bro. Barry Wallwork 33° as the new Inspector General for South East Lancashire in the Ancient and Accepted Rite. In fact it was a great relief, not only to the new Inspector General but also his District Recorder Ill. Bro Rod Geeson 32°, this was the second time he had arranged the Installation for the new Inspector General.  The original date had been arranged for January 12th unfortunately the snow arrived and brought most of the country to a standstill and the Installation postponed!

V. Ill. Bro. Royce Batters 33° has been acting as the Inspector General since last October, after the V. Ill. Bro. Barry Wallwork 33° retired after seven years in the role. The Installation ceremony was hosted by the Rose of Lahore Chapter No. 128 and it was their Most Wise Sovereign E&P Bro David Anderson 18° who welcomed into a packed Chapter Room of 140 plus Brethren, the Most Puissant Brother JLW Wright, RD FRCS, 33° the Sovereign Grand Commander, accompanied by other members of Supreme Council, who conduct a magnificent ceremony.

Also in attendance was the Inspector General for the District of North East Lancashire V. Ill. Bro. David Hawkins 33° as well as 7 other Inspector General’s and other distinguished guests from the North of England.  From the Province of East Lancashire, RWBro Jack Price, the Provincial Grand Master, accompanied by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, WBro Harold Woodward, RWBro Keith Schofield, the Provincial Grand Master of Mark Masons and VWBro Grahame Elliott, President of the Grand Charity, plus numerous other senior members and Brethren of the Province.

The Installation ceremony completed and the Chapter closed, everyone retired to a drinks reception and an excellent festive board.
