Wednesday February 11th, 2009, was a very special day for celebration in the Provincial Office. Michael Nicholson, probably well known to every Brother in the Province, and certainly well known to every Secretary and Scribe E in the Province, enjoyed his 70th Birthday.

The sprightly septuagenarian has served the Province for a number of years and offered help and advice to countless members during this time. He has also been responsible for maintaining our computerised records and liaising with United Grand Lodge with respect to all aspects of data storage, security and accuracy. He is the one sending Provincial communications to all the recipients, handling the paperwork associated with membership and generally doing all tasks referred to him by the Secretariat.

On a sad note, today marks the beginning of Mike's gradual retirement from duties in the Provincial Office. He is well known for his abilty to lighten the atmosphere in the building and his warm presence and charismatic personality endear hm to all who make his acquaintance.

The Provincial Grand Master, RWBro Jack Price, took time to visit Mike today, offer congratulations and wish him well with his gradual retirement.

Michael is currently the Deputy Chairman for the Salford District and he will be ably continuing with this and his other duties in the District and Province.

His much loved wife, Audrey, will be looking forward to having a bit more time with Mike at home.

The staff of the Secretariat were not going to let today pass without marking the occasion. Although Mike was still officially 'working' they arranged a special lunch in his honour and to mark the respect they each hold for him.
