MINOR GRANTS MADE BY THE FREEMASONS’ GRAND CHARITY

APRIL 2008

Supporting Smaller Charities

The latest grants announced by The Freemasons’ Grand Charity focus on helping smaller charities.  In total £34,000 is being given towards the important activities of eighteen charities working in the areas of youth opportunities, vulnerable people and medical research.

Provides a holiday and sports centre for children with special needs

Farms for City Children

Provides visits to farms for disadvantaged city children

Action for Prisoners’’ Families

Provides support and advice for families of prisoners, especially children

Papyrus (Prevention of Young Suicide)

Promotes mental health support for young people and the prevention of suicide

British Stammering Association

Provides information and advice and promotes early intervention therapies

Island Trust

Sailing opportunities for disabled and disadvantaged young people

Erb’s Palsy Group

Provides advice and support services

£1,000

Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre

Therapy for cerebral palsy sufferers

£2,000

Perthes Association

Provides advice, information and mobility equipment to children disabled by Perthes disease

Barth Syndrome Trust

Provides information and research

£1,000

The Living Paintings Trust

Provides 3-D pictures to partially sighted people

£2,500

Lupus UK

Supports people with Lupus and promotes national awareness

POPSY

Local support networks for the parents and carers of children with complex special needs

Arranges entertainment for children in hospitals
