FREEMASONS' GRAND CHARITY 3rd January 2012 £15,000 emergency grant for Philippines typhoon disaster On the 17th December 2011, a typhoon pounded the southern Philippines bringing heavy rains and strong winds, which resulted in massive flooding and landslides. Over 1,000 people were killed and the Philippines government declared a further 1,000 missing. Approximately 338,000 people have been affected by the disaster and over 10,000 homes destroyed. On 23rd December 2011, the President of the Grand Charity approved an emergency grant of £15,000 which was immediately issued to the Red Cross to provide disaster relief across the region.
