Special Event: 3 June 2009![]() Cheques presented by His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent, KG A group of charities had reason to celebrate this week (3 June 2009) when they were presented with grants from The Freemasons’ Grand Charity totalling an impressive £550,000. Leukaemia Research, Combat Stress and Save Canterbury Cathedral were amongst ten charities invited to attend a special event at the stunning art-deco Freemasons’ Hall in London where they were presented with cheques for up to £100,000 by His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent, KG. The Freemasons’ Grand Charity, which is funded by Freemasons and their families, awarded the grants in commemoration of the fortieth anniversary of the installation of His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent as Grand President of the Charity. Ten charities were selected to receive the grants which are in addition to around £3 million donated every year by The Freemasons’ Grand Charity to support national charities. Speaking about the grants Laura Chapman, Chief Executive of The Freemasons’ Grand Charity said “On behalf of the Freemasons who provide our funding, The Freemasons’ Grand Charity is delighted to be supporting the work of charities like Leukaemia Research and Combat Stress. The grants totalling £550,000 will make a real contribution to the work of the ten beneficiary charities and it is a fitting way to commemorate His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent’s fortieth anniversary as our Grand President”.
