Earl Ellesmere Lodge No 678 celebrate their 150th anniversary 

On Wednesday 4th October 2006 the members of Earl Ellesemere lodge celebrated their 150th anniversary. After opening the Lodge the Worshipful Master Bro Roy Hindley received the Deputy Provincial Grand Master V.W.Bro. Dr Nigel Bramley-Haworth along with the Provincial Deputation which included the Assistant Provincial grand Master for Bolton & Bury W. Bro Philip Mountford, and the Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals E. Comp. Trevor Thomas.

W. Bro Stewart Potter the Lodge Secretary read the consecration Minutes from 1856 and delivered a short history of the Lodge.

The Provincial Grand Chaplain W.Bro Paul Rolfe delivered an oration after which the V.W. Deputy Provincial Grand Master addressed the brethren.

The Worshipful Master Bro Roy Hindley presented the Deputy Provincial Grand Master with a cheque for £5000 to go to ELMC on behalf of the Lodge.

At the festive board a further cheque for £1000 was presented to the Deputy Provincial Grand Master by Mrs Mary Shaw who with her husband W. Bro John Shaw, the Immediate Past Master of the Lodge, manage Farnworth Masonic Hall. The money was raised at W. Bro John Shaw's Ladies evening held in 2005.

At the end of the evening members of Earl Ellesmere Lodge presented the Deputy Provincial Grand Master V.W.Bro. Dr Nigel Bramley-Haworth, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master W. Bro Philip Mountford and the Worshipful Master Bro Roy Hindley with bouquets for flowers for their Ladies.
