12th September, 2008

VWBro Dr Nigel Graham Bramley-Howarth and Sonia were tremendously well received as the guests of honour at the Ecclesholme Gala Dinner on the 12th September, 2008.
The Dinner, now an annual event, was hosted this year by East Lancashire and held at Hemsley House. Almost £1300 was raised for the home during the evening, and all those attending enjoyed a glorious banquet of hors d’oeuvres, asparagus soup, roast leg of lamb and strawberry pavlova, prepared by Salford’s new chef, Mark, who certainly excelled this evening.
Accomplished pianist, WBro Bernard McDonald, delivered through dinner, some amazing classics from his repertoire, for the great enjoyment of all those present.

The Committee of the Friends of Ecclesholme, through their Chairman (and local, Salford Representative, WBro Gordon Rowe) gathered in excess of 100 guests, from across East and West Lancashire, to share the party ambience, enjoy good company, learn more about Ecclesholme and, most importantly, help raise funds.
Nigel Bramley-Howarth gave an excellent address; he spoke of the great service given by the 17 Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution care homes across the country and, in particular, referred to the care offered to freemasons and their dependants in the 46 residential places provided by Ecclesholme. The home provides this service to residents from both East and West Lancashire and Nigel was enamoured by the support presented by both Provinces this evening.
He welcomed the President of the Association of Friends, WBro Gerald Bullough, and the Home Manager and Deputy Manager, Julie Deakin and Beverley Niland. He also thanked Julie Ward, our own ELMC Welfare Officer and the Provincial Grand Charity Steward, WBro David Geldard, for their support.

Nigel and Sonia stayed behind after the formal part of the evening to mingle with the guests, who expressed their gratitude and high esteem for them both, by presenting Sonia with a beautiful arrangement of flowers as the evening drew to a close.
We are all looking forward to supporting West Lancashire who will host this event in Widnes next year.
